What Type of laptop would be better for gaming, an Intel Core i5 or a Quad core?

The number of cores actually have very little to do with gaming experience. Most games are not designed to run on more than 2 cores..a very few will utilize all 4 cores, but very few. What matters the most is the clock speed of each core and the graphics card in the computer. You would want to avoid any integrated graphics. Hybrid graphics will run some older games in full settings, and some newer games in low to mid settings. For best performance you would want dedicated graphics. The best cpu for gaming would be an Intel core i5, core i7, or an AMD Phenom IIx2 or Phenom IIx4. The Intel core i's will usually out perform the Phenoms as long as they are paired with a good quality graphics card. But the Phenoms will be less expensive and still able to play your games.
